Hope you're feeling better (if confused)... ;-)
My wife gets something similar a lot: she has a pale-ish complexion, and when she's fever-flushed but pushing herself to keep going despite feeling crap-tacular, people keep telling her how she has a "healthy, rosy glow about her." So far, there've been no fatalities...

Re: looking good, aparently.....
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 9:41 AMI hear that. I was sick for a couple of weeks in March/April and lost weight. I got the same response from many people. When one woman asked what I had been doing to lose weight. I told her about being sick, and she got embarassed and back pedaled. While it was certainly not my ideal way to lose a few inches around my middle, I thanked her for the compliment anyhow. If she'd been more than just an acquaintance, I may have been upset.
Oddly enough my appetite hasn't been quite the same since my illness. Most of the time I eat because my body demands it rather than out of actual desire for food. As a result I eat less at more frequent intervals (on good days) and less frequently (on not so good days). I expect my body will be ready for another round of feeding here in about another hour or so, but the thought of food is simply not all that appealing these days.

Thu, May 8, 2008 - 2:24 PMWhat gets me is when people gush about how great I look, and I how I must have lost weight... but I haven't. ;-)

Re: looking good, aparently.....
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 8:26 PMI know, people so want us to lose weight (us big gals) that they just jump on the fact we have lost weight. Last year I went through a very stressful time and lost about 20-30 lbs. Like you not the way I wanted to lose weight. No sleep, no eating, fretting, no fun, but lots of compliments. I have gained it all back and now am fat and happy! -

Re: hooray for fat and happy!!
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 12:10 AMI'll third that!
I figure if they don't like what they're looking at they can look somewhere else.
I'll never forget the first positive website I ever read. It was written by a lesbian woman of size named Marilyn Wan and had the beautiful name of FAT!SO? I'd love to have a t-shirt with her bright pink logo but the last time I was at the site it looks abandoned.
No matter there's other fat positive sites out there. I know I've really enjoyed reading this Tribe as well. -

Re: hooray for fat and happy!!
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 12:33 AMKind of upsetting, kind of funny.
When I have overslept and had to leave the house feeling gross and unclean because of lack of a bath; that's when I get the most compliments and women honking their horn at me. Go figure. It's an insane world.
Betcha....
I'm not avoiding showers just to please these flirts!

Re: hooray for fat and happy!!
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 9:41 PMMarilyn is still around, although she's busy with lots of stuff around the country. I don't know if she keeps tabs on the site. Just a slight correction, though, I don't think she's a lesbian. Last I knew her partner was a BHM.

Hey sweetie,
Been there done that. I, at the age of 19, in an f'd up marriage, that resulted in three ulcers and all the symptoms you describe went from 150 at 5'7" to 119lbs. Didn't like it, didn't feel pretty or at all sociable with anyone. Guys have got to realize that we are big and we are happy. We don't hold to who says what is the norm as the norm for us is personal, we can be a bit more curvaceous than those who define their curves by the bare flesh transparently laying over their bones.
We are happy we are damn more than pretty, we are beautiful, with curves that don't quit, and know without a question that every man appreciates them a hell of a lot more than a bony ass!!!

Re: looking good, apparently.....
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 5:44 AM"Guys have got to realize that we are big and we are happy. "
I'm good with it, but I will correct one thing on that;
women buy the magazines and watch the media that tells them that they should look a certain way, guys start seeing the look and it draws their interest from years back when many younger women looked skinnier and like what they see and push women a bit.
It's a combined thing, though if women wanted to strike the blow that is necessary, they would stop buying the magazines and turn off the shows like Oprah and the like that tell a person how to be 'more beautiful' by losing weight, getting plastic surgery, the latest b.s. fashions, etc.
The media pushes it because women buy it.
I desire a woman who is in good enough shape that she isn't going to die early from clogging her arteries and having a stroke.
I desire a woman who is smooth; I admit, but it is because I don't desire hair like a man's on a women, as it makes me think of a guy and I don't desire guys.
I desire a woman that is grown, not childish like the pathetic 'Desperate Housewives'.
Women have been letting the media determine who they are for too long.
Take from your inner cores and discover who that is and change the channel on crap tv and burn the junk magazines that tell you that you aren't good enough.
Is it any wonder that women run toward abusive pricks?
They are used to being surrounded by abuse in their media choices, so it seems natural.
Betcha.....
.....that was a longer opinion than I planned. -

Re: looking good, apparently.....
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 9:12 AMA while back, I tried to find a site that compares different body types, with height, weight, measurements, bmi, as much info as was possible, with clothed and unclothed photos of the person. Does such a site exist?
A friend had a poster on her wall that consisted of 2 photos of the same person, one clothed and one skyclad, about a dozen or so folks total. Must ask her where it came from.
As an aside, when young, athletic, and stupid I preferred much slimmer ladies. Come to think of it, I did have a little bit wider appreciation of the female form back then compared to other guys, but not as much as now. It wasn't until about 1994 or 5 when I started going to CO beaches on a more regular basis, and seeing ALL types of bodies (not just the athletic women on the circuit) that the appreciation developed in earnest! I would see very attractive women with clothes on come walking down the beach, find a spot, and proceed to strip. First hand comparison of the woman with and without clothes on. So yeah, now they're looking good, apparently, to me :-)
Ladies! Don't be afraid to get nekkid at the beach! You might be doing other guys like I was a huge favour! -

Re: looking good, apparently.....
Thu, May 22, 2008 - 1:57 AMThis thread makes me think of the bit that Margaret Cho did in "I'm the One That I Want" when she was talking about tabloids ribbing her about the (non-existent) "Chow Like Cho Diet."
She then adopted a very exaggerated accent and said something like:
"When I am in Koreeeeeeeeea, I eat only rice and fish, but I still gain weight. That is why I hope I catch Malaaaaaaaaaria!! The pounds melt away when you have malaaaaaaaaria!"
Amazing the shit that is dumped on some folks.
